cat(a)log stores all data — cats, places, photos, positions — locally on your device. There is no server, no account, and no analytics. Nothing is collected, transmitted to, or stored by the developer or any third party.
Data leaves your device only when you explicitly trigger it: syncing directly with another device you chose, writing to a shared folder you chose, or sharing a card or CSV export through your platform’s share sheet. Map tiles are fetched from OpenStreetMap when you open the map, and when you search for a place or address in the position picker, on the map when your catalog has no match for the search, or when you ask the flier scan to find the owner’s address, that search text is sent to OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim geocoding service; OpenStreetMap’s privacy policy applies to both (https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy).
Opening a registry number (for example a Tasso search number stored on a cat) hands the link to your browser, which then contacts that service under its own privacy policy. cat(a)log never queries a registry itself.
Location access is used solely to record positions of cats when you tap “Stray Cam” or “seen here now”, and camera/photo access solely to attach photos to cats. Both stay on your device like everything else.
