Sync with a person standing next to you: one phone hosts, the other joins by scanning the code, and the data moves over Wi-Fi, encrypted, without any server.

Hosting and joining#

The host shows a code as a QR and as text, with a PIN. The joiner scans the code or types it with the PIN; a phone with the code and the PIN off the screen is served. Where there is no Wi-Fi, one phone opens a hotspot and the other joins it.

What it means for trust#

A partner you synced with in person counts as met: their key is pinned, and entries in their name without their signature are refused from then on.

The private switch#

Decides whether private values travel. Off, the partner sees a lock on the empty rows.

Desk: the desk hosts a session the same way; a phone joins it. Joining, the hotspot and the scanner need a camera or a radio and stay on the phone.
